主题:CFD simulation of Fluid-Structure Interaction

    This talk focuses on the development of numerical methods which are used to couple the fluid flow field and structures with diverse scale differences. A membrane method is developed for structures, which requires complex interpolation to impose fluid-structure interfacial conditions, while an immersed object method is designed without the use of interpolation at all. A hybrid adaptive method is also proposed to combine the two different approaches. These methods can be used to simulate moving boundary problems and Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) with arbitrarily structural movement. Furthermore, the solution methods for both fluid and structural dynamics will also be briefly introduced, which are based on an uniform parallel unstructured multigrid FV method using both continuum and particle models. Finally, examples of the applications of the schemes developed will be presented and results obtained will be discussed.
Bio of the Speaker:
    Dr. Zhao Yong obtained his BSc from Xi'an Jiaotong University, China in 1985 and MSc and PhD from the University of Manchester in 1989 and 1992 respectively. He has been with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore since 1992, where he is currently an associate professor in the School of Mechanical And Aerospace Engineering. His research interests are in the development of high-order finite-volume unstructured-multigrid schemes for both low-speed/high-speed turbulent flow simulation, parallel CFD methods on large-scale parallel and distributed computing platforms, methods for fluid-structure interaction and aero-elasticity. He has won a number of awards for developing cutting-edge CFD methods and their engineering applications, including a MIT conference fellowship from the 2nd MIT conference on Computational Fluid and Solid Mechanics, the HPC Blue Challenge Bronze Award from IBM and the CrayQuest Gold Award fro SGI. A number of his papers have been ranked as top25 hottest papers in the Journal of computational Physics, Computers and Structures and Computer Methods in Applied Mechanics and Engineering. He is a senior member of AIAA.
