Hideki Shirakawa, born August 1936, is a famous chemist in the Polymer Science and Distinguished Professor of Tsukuba University in Japan. Due to the outstanding contribution “for the discovery and development of conductive polymers”, Professor Hideki Shirakawa won the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 2000, along with Professor Alan J. Heeger (University of California Santa Barbara, USA) and Professor Alan G. MacDiarmid (University of Pennsylvania, USA).
